This is more of a personal thought so I didn't want to post it somewhere else; but it has to do with the loaves and fishes.
ReplyDeleteI have thought for some time that the miracle of the loaves and fishes didn't necessarily have to be a magic trick. I feel like it would have been just as amazing that if when the people who had food saw that Jesus and his diciples shared the very little amount of food that they had, everyone shared what they had as well. That's how everyone was fed. It's been a while since I read it, and I'll have to read it again, but I don't believe that the baskets were overflowing when they took them out to the crowd; they were overflowing with waste when they collected the remnants. The story doesn't say that Jesus waved his hand; and all of a sudden the baskets were overflowing with food to be passed out.
I think it would be a miracle to get people of different backgrounds and cultures to share with each other. We are still trying to work that miracle in the modern day.
